PAST ARTISTS & PERFORMERS: CONTRIBUTE ITEMS OF SHANTIQUITY!

Modus Locus is hosting a shanty retrospective this winter! Shanty artists & performers from any time during our 20 year history are invited to contribute ephemera, photos, costumes, art, and shanty artifacts for consideration.

There is no fee to apply. Work can be for sale, or not!

They will be on display at Modus Locus in January / February 2024 during our 20th Anniversary Program (more on that below).

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

1. Label your items of shantiquity with:

  • your name & shanty name
  • lake & year
  • price (if it’s for sale)

if your work/contribution is for sale, the split will be 65% artist / 35% Modus Locus

2. Put them in a bag or small bin

  • also label your bag/bin with your name!

items must be self-contained / no loose items please!

3. Drop it off at Modus Locus (3500 Bloomington Ave S. Minneapolis, MN 55407) during these times:

  • Wednesday, December 20, 6-8pm
  • Wednesday, December 27, 6-8pm

if these times don’t work for you, please contact Ephraim for an alternate drop-off time: 612-382-9477. Items must be received by Thursday, December 28.

RETROSPECTIVE DETAILS:

The show will run concurrent with the Art Shanty program, with open hours on Wednesday evenings (Jan 24 & 31, Feb 7) where artists and the public can view, gather, and hang out in a social community space.

If you want to do something on one of these nights (DJ, host karaoke, etc) email program@artshantyprojects.org!

This effort is initiated by shanty artist Angela Maki North, and is done in partnership with Modus Locus and Art Shanty Projects!
