Archive of Collective Memory

The Archive of Collective Memory offers an opportunity for visitors to reflect on the nature of representation, archives, and the relationship between individual and collective memory. From within its wooden hexagonal structure, the Archive plays back music translated from audience member’s own text-based submissions. At the conclusion of the Art Shanties, the Archive will play back its complete contents – the accumulated music from all visitor submissions – providing space for reflection on the limits of language and the nature of archival knowledge.
