Thakápsičapi (They Play Lacrosse)

people playing lacrosse on snow-covered lake on a sunny day
Two children on the snow with a lacrosse stick, the bigger one has their arms around the smaller one, and they both smile.

Artists: Twin Cities Native Lacrosse In Thakápsičapi (They Play Lacrosse), we invite community members to learn the style, movement, and spirit of this land’s oldest team sport. Players will use Ojibwe-/ Dakota- style wooden lacrosse sticks to move the ball across the ice and snow. Within each game that is played, a reflection of life and our world is made. Players use Ojibwe-/ Dakota- style wooden lacrosse sticks to move the ball across the ice and snow and will learn about the process of stick- or ball- making and also Ojibwe or Dakota words used in the game. All equipment provided by the artists.
