Opticon

An illustration of a human figure, standing inside the can-shaped Opticon Shanty, with a ramp, windows, and a periscope.

Artists: Silvana Agostoni, Charles Buchwald, Lindsay Larsen, Peter Scherf
Opticon is a camera obscura on ice, a trip to the past, a learning opportunity and a moment for participatory artistic expression. Learn a little history of photography and art, a bit of science and have some unusual fun. Experience a magically projected image of nearby shanties and visitors against a backdrop of the distant lakeshore. Opticon encourages interaction with that image through viewing and drawing. See your surroundings through a different lens, literally and figuratively.
