LAUNCH SHANTY SEASON WITH US!
Early giving for Give to the Max Day has begun – let’s build a village! Support public art + make a donation to Art Shanty Projects today!
Your donation supports the artists and performers who bring the village to life, and the staff members who organize year-round to make it happen. Over 80% of our budget goes towards paying people!
CONNECTION
Art Shanty Projects exists to provide opportunities for connection – with ideas, with friends & strangers, and with our shared winter landscape. The shanty village is a place to work through what is happening in life personally, locally and globally. We promote talking to strangers, we invite active participation, we build solidarity. We practice resilience through creative activities in extreme conditions. We provoke. We celebrate winter joy and experience awe. We try new things, adjust expectations, and have fun! We celebrate!
MODEST GIFTS FROM MANY PEOPLE FUEL THE VILLAGE
Over 50% of our income comes through the collective effort of thousands of individuals like you making modest donations. What is a meaningful amount to give? That depends on your resources and circumstance, so we leave it up to you to decide, whether that’s $5, $25, $250 or more. Gifts in any amount are appreciated. Anyone who gives $25 or more becomes a seasonal member which comes with invitations to special parties and discounts on merch.
YOUR SUPPORT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Our public art event is free to attend, but not free to produce. It costs money to host 30,000 curious and adventurous visitors annually, and 80% of our budget goes towards paying people (including artists and staff)! Gifts in any amount count!
SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO
During our 2026 program you’ll encounter contemplative projects on epidemics and climate change alongside exuberant celebrations of queer and punk culture. Artists are imaginatively exploring issues facing our real ecosystems (projects about soil! beavers! pollinators! zooplankton!) as well as through sci-fi and fantasy (meet multiple alien groups, witches, and who knows who else…).
