We are not currently reviewing interest forms for our curatorial panels, but you can submit the form anytime to express interest. We will begin reviewing the form submissions in spring 2026 for our 2027 program.

We invite artists, curators, arts administrators, producers and shanty enthusiasts to join our curatorial panel!

Most of our artists come through an open call process — where they share their project vision through an application. The Artistic Director works with a panel of jurors to review, score, and discuss the proposals, resulting in the selection of the shanties and performances that visitors see!

We select jurors annually for our Curatorial Panels in June. They review and score open call proposals individually in July and then come together in August for a discussion to approve projects for the On-Ice Program. We have two panels: one for shanty projects, and one for performances + art actions. 

Time commitment: advance review of proposals + one 4-hour in-person session to discuss together.

This is a volunteer position. We provide an honorarium for your participation.

Timeline:

  • July 30: guidelines, rubrics for scoring, proposals/submissions ready for juror review
  • July 30 – August 22: review and score proposals on your own time / independently
  • August 23-24: in-person jury sessions, 1-5pm each day

Jury sessions are in person in south Minneapolis (each juror only attends one session):

  • August 23, 1-5pm

  • August 24, 1-5pm

 
This is a volunteer position, but we provide a $100 honorarium for your participation.
