mnartists.org Call for Programming Submissions for the 2009 Art Shanty Projects.
Open invitation to create programming during the Sixth Annual Art Shanty Projects:
Submissions due by Dec 1 2008. Notification will be Dec 15th.
Submissions will be selected by a 3 person Jury.
mnartists.org and the Art Shanty Projects are seeking visual artists, musicians, composers, media artists, puppeteers, architects, poets, scientists, dancer/choreographers, writers, fisher-people, outdoors-people, naturalists, vocalists, spoken word artists, craftspeople, storytellers, actors, playwrights, etc. interested in producing programs on frozen Medicine Lake in Plymouth, MN. Programming will occur during the Art Shanty Projects from January 17 through February 14 2009. Stipends of $100 and $200 are available for projects. The amount allocated will be based on the scope of project and frequency of program.
Dates: 1/17/2009 – 2/14/2009
Times: Programs should occur on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am – 5pm.
Review process: Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a three person jury representing mnartists.org and the Art Shanty Projects. Successful proposals will consider the unique environment of the Art Shanty Projects and Medicine Lake as well as the overall feasibility of their project.
What to submit: one page maximum description of your idea.
The proposal should detail the production of the project, how it engages participants, the preferred site, the time frame of the project, and any technical requirements. Please be as specific as possible.
If your idea requires an indoor space, there are venues available to host performances. Please visit the ASP website for a list of this years Art Shanty Projects and possible indoor performance/programming venues. Please let us know if you have made arrangements with a shanty or if you need assistance with a contact. Your submission should also include your top 3 choices for days and times for your program. If your program is selected we will contact you Dec 15th. The actual calendar will be decided on an on going basis. Priority will be given to stipend winners.
